Jessup Brush Set Review (Ebay)

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Hello everyone. I am back with another review post. I bought makeup brushes on Ebay for the first time, and I just recently received them. I bought these from the seller, misskingdom001, and he/she has very good feedback on Ebay, so I thought, I should just buy these. The ones I bought were the Jessup 12 pc set and it only costed me $16 which is a pretty good deal for a set. I was pretty skeptical about buying cheap brushes at first, so before I bought them, I did do a little research to see what people said about the Jessup brushes, and if I remember, these are supposed to be dupes for the sigma brushes. I heard a lot of positive reviews about them, so I proceeded with the purchase to test it out for myself. So, I will be sharing my experience with you guys. Let's get started! :)

The set comes with 5 face brushes if I am correct. I honestly am really bad at determining which brushes are for what purpose, so bear with me. I bought the white/gold colored brushes and when I first felt the quality of these brushes, I was amazed with the softness of the brushes. It felt so nice on my skin and did not irritate it at all. I was a bit worried about that the brushes would start shedding because they were so cheap, and I tend to hear a lot of complaints about shedding with cheap brushes, but I did not experience that at all with the Jessup brushes which was relieving. I even tested it out by pulling the brush hair softly with my hands, and nothing came off. I will show you guys each of the face brushes individually, and let me know if I got any of the brushes wrong. :)

Next, are the eye brushes, and sadly, I won't be showing these brushes individually because there is just too many of them, but if you guys want, I could do a separate post on them. Anyways, the eye brushes were good quality as well, but I don't think I would need all of them. I was a bit disappointed that the brushes didn't come with a case, but overall, I was satisfied with these brushes. I think they are just as good as Sigma brushes if you are on a budget and looking for a cheaper alternative.

Here are the tips of the brushes. Each one of them has a black bottom and white at the top, and they are synthetic brushes. I really like the way the whole thing looked together which was one of the main reasons that I chose the Jessup brushes. I did have to clean the brushes before using them, and if you guys would like to know how I cleaned them, please let me know and I will do a separate post on how I cleaned my brushes. :)

Now, for the face brushes and what each one is used for. <3

Powder Brush

Great for applying powder, but it can also be used for blush or bronzer. This brush may take a little longer to dry than the rest because of its large size, but it works great and feels very soft.

Foundation Brush

I mainly use this brush for foundation, and it applies very nicely. It can also be used for concealer because of its small size. It feels very soft and doesn't irritate me skin.

Contour Brush

I am don't usually contour except for special occasions, but I find this brush to be perfect for contouring because it is an angled brush. Sorry if it's difficult to see the angle. This brush is also great for applying blush because the angle would make applying it so much easier.

Duo Fiber Brush

I have heard that this brush was a favorite among beauty gurus. This brush is great for applying foundation of blushes. I tend to use this brush for my cream products as I find that it works well with those. This brush, I found that it was a bit harder to apply because the hair was not even, so it did not cover my whole face.

Thanks for reading guys! That is all I have to say about the Jessup brushes, but if you guys want me to do the eye brushes or talk about how I clean my makeup brushes, please let me know along with any questions or comments you may have. Have a wonderful day! :)

  3. Great review! I don't normally put on makeup, but I have several brushes. Some of the brushes are starting to fall off. There are so many different kind of brushes in the market now, and it can get confusing which one to choose. I will keep Jeesup in mind. Thanks!

    1. Glad you liked the review. I'm not much of a makeup person, but I decided to start trying it more often. It was pretty hard choosing the right brushes, but I heard a lot of great things about Jessup, so I wanted to test it you. Thanks for reading Anita. :)

  5. I don't really wear makeup but the brushes I bought were from the Body Shop, I believe. I really enjoyed using those when I actually apply it. The coverage was great and the quality of the brushes was really good.

  8. I love my makeup brushes but I don't clean them often enough. This makes them not last very long. My favorite is the powder brush because I feel that it is one of those brushes that are universal. You have to have that brush!

    1. I can totally relate! I used to have a brush where I used for applying powder and foundation, but I didn't clean it often, and it caused breakouts for me. I agree with the powder brush as well. I could not live without it. Thanks for reading Christina! :)

  10. I have to agree with Christina in that the powder brush is definitely universal and tends to be my go-to brush when I'm applying makeup. The Jessup brushes look to be a nice quality set to have on hand so thank you for sharing and as others have said I'd also like to know how you clean your brushes as well.

  11. Great review! You got a good deal there, $16 for all these, not bad at all. And I love the tips of the brushes. You're right, too bad there's no case where you can put them altogether. The last set of brush I bought was at tmart, they are set of cute pink brushes with a cute pouch. You should check it out.
